I just asked my wife if we can go to Belgium, she said no problem.
What is the weight limit on luggage? LOL
Nice Stones Hans,
Seems to be that there are some brothers and sisters from that old lot ;-) let us know how your tanned one behaves....and i would appreciate some additional pics of the tanned one....does youres shows the same thickness around 30 mm ? The coticule part is very meaty, around 18-20mm
I really like mine...here are some pics...

That is a truly productive trip. Congratulations on the new acquisitions!
thank you all for your kind comments!
being a jnat user, coticules are new to me. therefore i am not able to tell you much about the performance of these stones as i have nothing to compare them to. however, the shave off the veinette was very good, and to my big surprise, the razor i honed on the stone i picked up in the quarry shaved equally well, pretty close and smooth!
doorsch: when i tried to gather some information about the old rock mine, i stumbled over this thread. indeed, these stones, including yours, seem to be siblings. mine had the same pencil writing on top, and there was still some old paper sticking to one side. my stone measures 253 x 64 x 27 mm (roughly 10 x 2.5 x 1 inches). some pictures below, first picture shows stone wet.

hans

It Looks like Maureice was in and his private stash surprisingly still has some Old Rock left. There were many of them in it.
Well done. Just the experience is worthwile. I am looking forward for new hones from their ner pit.
Some beautiful stones. Man, I'll be hitting up Belgium hopefully next year. You know one can never have too many coticules.
