I somehow managed to acquire a second Charnwood hone, a bit wider and a bit lighter than my first (I think I like the first the best still):

I'm supposing they once connected to something? Cork feet? In any case, what would be best to do with them? (I usually hold the hone in my lap, so they're uncomfortable; even on a flat surface they make it unstable) Just file them off?
Nice stone there! The "pokey metal bits" gave it traction on the surface of a wooden workbench if I'm not mistaken. They just dug in a little and kept the whole thing steady.
You can pull them out. Then if a future owner wants new pins for traction he can just hammer new pins or nails in the holes.
