Stone ID
Picked this stone up the other day, it was soaked with oil and black as night. Put it in some simple green overnight and this is what I have, maybe a soft Arkansas? Feel a bit smooth compared to the other soft Arkansas stones I've had. It measures 8.5x2x1

Hard to tell, it doesn't look like a soft Ark or Washita but anything is possible. Looks more like a sandstone of some kind but I surely don't recognize it.
Is that the back side in the last picture?

Got the stone cleanest up and lapped. Hopefully these are better pics. I did put a razor to it and it seems.as.if its.a finisher of sorts. As you can see the slurry is a milky white. It's not a very hard stone either, I'm ruling out any type of Arkansas stone, some kind of slate maybe. Attachment 248604Attachment 248605

looks like a Hindostan to me and with you being from IL that would make sense.

That looks like a hindostan. The white ones can be fine enough to finish on sometimes
