Name that stone part 1

So I have this stone ,seems quite soft, laps quickly, creates a cream colored slurry, stone itself appears natural, off white color almost a beige or light tan. Edges weren't lapped, some saw marks present

Coticule?

Looks to me like Kansas "Hindustan"
About a 4-6K hone. It could be higher when honing lightly.

~Richard. The dark lower half if a natural part, not dirt, would suggest a Coticule.

Spray with Oven cleaner and let it sit for 15-20 mins. Spray again and scrub with a stiff brush or brass brush. Wash with soapy water and scrub again. May take a couple rounds to get most of the surface oil off it.

Soak in 50 percent Simple Green for a few days, in an air tight container, (I use glass pasta jars with rubber seal and wire clasp), and scrub again.

Looks like it could be a Hindustan, cleaning it will tell. If it is a Hindo, you may have to soak it for month, changing the solution every couple weeks, to get it completely clean. I soaked one for over a year.

Once it stops releasing oil in the cleaning/soaking solution, it is clean.

thanks, that is dirt and lapped off, color is pretty consistent throughout
