Brookstone hone

I recently picked up a Brookstone hone at a local sale and was wondering if anyone has experience with one of these. I haven't tried it out yet but it seems it may be fine enough to have a place in a razor progression. It's synthetic and if I had to guess just by looks and feel I would say somewhat like a King 6K? Just guessing. Nice little box and all, just don't know yet whether to put it in the kitchen, the tackle box, or the shave den.

Hard to say from photo, I do know Brookstone, rebranded Arks and Spyderco hones back in the day.

Could be a Hard Ark or Synthetic, either way a good size stone, should at least make a great knife hone.

Put a knife on it before you lap it.

How fine is it?

It feels pretty fine to the touch, similar to a King 6k I would say, could be even finer. Appears synthetic, very uniform material. The size is about 5 x 2. I'll play around with it when I get a chance here and report back.

Have a similar hone to it. I will post the maker when I get home. I think that it was Pike.

Thanks, Richard. Although, this one is a tad smaller than that. This hone is more like 5 x 2. I googled Pike Kristolo and found your picture of it in a different thread (nice hone by the way!). Yours has a Pike logo but this one doesn't. I'm wondering if it is the same hone but a different size and rebranded for Brookstone. Or if it's something different all together? It sure seems it could be fine enough to work as you have described.

Probably only Modine or Randydance could answer that. It sure preps an edge on a wapicopy. I will go to a hard Coticule from here. Hair popper for sure!
I would go with 4-6K and it is fast!!
