Escher green-yellow!
Yeah seems to be a Barbers Delight Quality Stone which was Sold from Escher & Co. New York. I would rate it something in between 1894 to 1925, as far as i remember during war times a economical ban on german products existed.....this happened on WWI and on WWII, so probably it was sold in the earlier timeframe up to 1914. However the first Quarter of the 20th Centuary is a well placed date....
Congrats to that find those are awesome stones you should never part with them ;-)

Escher green-yellow!
Please consider sealing the label is something i would not recommend, in the End its your decision and it depends if you wanne use the stone or how you gonna use it....sealing for me personally is a destruction of the paper work which is in the end not reversible.
My approach totally comes from a collectors point of view here.....███▓▒░░.RAZORLOVESTONES.░░▒▓███

What a Score!!!!
I have been totally loving mine...comparing a couple of Escher's I have, the edge from the BD is noticeably better IMO, whereas the normal Eschers seem to be around 10-12k, I'd say the BD is around 15k...not as mellow as my others, little sharper feel to the edge, but just the right amount of mellow.
And you freakin' stole that...congrats on an epic stone....wow!

Thanked: 39Beautiful stone! I love my Y/G barbers gem sized Escher. Where did you make this great find? I always think it's interesting where these come up in the wild.

Thanked: 580Hey doorsch, why don't you recommend it? Picked up a crest water hone, the label started failing straight away as you can see on the right side. Gutted I was. Suspect it may be a thuri, can't find anything about it except one post here. Unusual in that it has been drilled like some of the barber hones were to prevent a wire edge.

As mentioned, make sure you seal all the labels to preserve it's value and it's provenance.
Use some Artists Gloss (which I use to seal labels for example), and what I did was seal the entire box and all labels.
I had to do some repair on the box on mine, bu when complete, I applied at least 3 applications of Artists Gloss on all labels and the entire box, Even had to construct a new base for the box - everything got multiple treatments.
Don't know if you can see the sheen on the labels and box, but here's mine, and as you can also see, yours is in literally NOS condition - do what you can to preserve that beauty, and what a find.
