Scored this off the bay last weekend. I’ve read about thuris for butchers could this be one? It’s 4.5”x6.75”x1”

Thank you MODINE. Unfortunately none of the photos would load.
Could well be a thuringian hone from the photos. The size is unusual, but these sizes do exist. There was and is still an interest and demand in large thuringian hones by (kosher) butchers in Israel. Also the kitchen knife enthusiasts have newly developped thuringian hones for final finishing, at least here in Germany. Not that this is really necessary at kitchen knifes.... but the edges get superb.
That is a thin piece laminated to a slate isn't it? How in the world would they cut a large piece that thin?
I bought a large slab like that with the wide chamfers recently. I don't think it is thuri though. Just seems too firm even for a db

Nice looking stone kcb5150! Have you used it yet? If so,how does it do?
An update on mine. It is lapped and I’ve tried it. I’m thinking it probably is not a thuri .
It reminds me of my la lune. On water it feels pebble like. Use oil tho and it’s right up there with my thuri’s. Any ideas?
Here’s some new photos.Attachment 280455Attachment 280456Attachment 280457Attachment 280458Attachment 280459
Looks like any number of slate specimens that I've seen and used but I'm no expert.
It's probably the same material. It is a very credible finisher imo. I don't get the pebble feeling but it does have more draw than a lot of stones
