Does any one have any experience with S.R. Droescher coticules? Particularly those marked XX? I am wondering what the performance was like and whether anyone knows that the XX signifies.
Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sevrin R Droescher was an importer of very fine items. I suspect but have zero back up, XX is likely extra extra fine. I did once have an Escher hone with his mark and it was as expected, all that. His razors and strops were the finest available, so I expect that the coti is also. I would not hesitate to buy any item with his mark on it if it were in good condition.
I agree, most things SR Droescher were rebranded top-of-the-line products. Be that strops, hones, razors. One of my favorite shavers is an SRD that I suspect came from Dubl Duck and was rebranded as SRD.
I haven't used one of the coticules, but I have to believe it's top notch. Please send pictures if you are able!
Here are some of the eBay pictures of the listing I just won.

That little beauty has seen little to no use. I hope you whisper quietly to her and get her to reveal the secret to the perfect coti finish.
I had many. They also vary like the new ones.....you have to try and keep the ones you like best.
Congrats! Nice find. As was stated, coticules can vary, but with the SRD stamp the odds are in your favor that it's a good one for razors I think. You done good. Here's one that I found at a flea market last summer in a box with a bunch of other stones. Also marked XX, but I think this one at 7 inches is the next size up? It's one of the best coticules I have. I worry about lapping it and losing the stamps though. Silly, I know... and eventually I will regard it for what it is, a tool, then I won't care so much about the stamps I suppose.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I appreciate it.
Apparently the stone came from the estate of a 100 year old barber. Hopefully that means it is a good stone. However, a good piece of advice I was given is to look for stones that were used often. Those are usually the ones that gave the best results.
Keep in mind these grades of choice...best...etc at all marketing. I had a choice coticule once that destroyed the edges on my razors. It felt like gravel when I honed on it.
