Found hone. What is it?
I saw a hone at a yard sale, but didn’t buy it. Box said “Norton #1 Washita”. What is this home and should I go back tomorrow? Thanks for the knowledge.

Yes, go back-that's a classic Arkansas hone. The Norton-branded Arks are considered great quality stones; I've got a boxed Norton TransArk that I love.

Go for it, B. I love my Washita, its a butterscotch color.
Can be a cutter, or a finisher of around 8-10000 grt., by playing with different lubes n such.Mike

That doesn’t surprise me as they are a collectible hone not mined anymore and you can only get the vintage ones. Along with that, many “groups” of people use them- outdoor enthusiasts, woodworkers, us, etc.
