Default Pierre Du Sud Ouest Quest

I have been searching for a Pierre Du Sud Ouest for quite some time now. I did not put a priority on aquiring one so I would get outbid or the seller wanted more than I wanted to pay. The funny thing was I thought I was getting a nice sized coti but I ended up being a PDSO at a nice price and I ended up with a stone I have wanting for some time. Size 225mm×47mm×14mm
Today was a beautiful day in the Goden State and the pictures came out nice with the sunlight.Name: DSC01052.jpg

That is a nice sized stone.

I’m not familiar with this kind of stone. It sure resembles a coticule.

    Got a few questions:
Does it have a backing stone or is it hard enough to not require a backer?
Where does it fit into your honing progression?

No backing, by the lines on the side I would say it is a paddle stone. PDSO are found frequently in paddles. Because of it's thickness I feel safe honing in hand, but I am making a box for her. She is a finisher for sure, almost like a Thuri but a tad less keen. The slurry is brite yellow with a orange tint. Cool stone for sure! You don't see them often but they do pop up time to time, but mostly on the bay in France.

They also have the plant inclusions similar to Thuris and Eschers.
