At the highest of my had I had 10 cotis 5 barber hones and a couple synthetic stones. Buying the stones and using them is fun, but the worst part was trying to get rid of the ones I didn’t need anymore. Lol it’s heartbreaking!Quote:

The beauty of film or a 20k is you can dial in the keenness or aggression and always dial it back with coticule, same for paste.
The other alternative is go Jnat, which can be another pricy proposition of a couple hundred dollars and there is a learning curve. Here again a lot of good information is written about Jnats.
You could always send one out and have it honed on the stone of choice to find out what you like. Cheaper than buying a stone u end up not liking
Good idea Mike. This would be a good way to go for finding what you like.
Some good suggestions here. Trying the film is a good start then try the CBN. Sending it out to someone with a specific hone is also good.
