La Lune Stone with blue sticker

Hi everybody !

I just received this stone La Lune with a blue sticker.
We use to know these stone with a red sticker... so i wonder if the sticker is blue because of the blue points that you can see in the second picture...

Does somebody have some information about it ?

Cool! I have a stone very similar but no label. I think it is a extra extra fine La lune but it has been a couple of years and no conclusive yes/no. I have not seen the bue label so I will keep a close eye on this thread to see if it can help me out.
Do you think it is finer than the other La lune you have?

I still have not tried it, but it really looks like the ones with the red sticker...

Have not seen the blue label but have seen the Green label special stones.

I have several with the green dots and splashes that are unlabeled. Work well with Smith’s honing solution and water for finishing.

Seal the label and lap that puppy. Nice looking Ruby Red Washita in the background.

Welcome to SRP, this being your first series of posts. The stone does have the requisite chamfers on the backside, but my sense is that the classic Lunes were more short and squat, with the Special Stones being more elongated. This is just a supposition based on the elliptical green dots; but perhaps it was imported Welsh slate cut and labelled by F.G.B.C. for the domestic French market.

Members doorsch and bushdoctor have made pretty extensive studies of the subject. I would be interested to have their respective opinions on this one.

PM received, just to tell all others around. Hard to tell anything on the Blue La Lune labels right now. I received also other pics with blue labels from other collectors. Probably FGBC used those during a specific time period. On the other hand my guess was if anything could have happened to the color / label, fex something like a chemical reaction....

It is an idea... but i don't think it is due to chemical reaction. The classic label is red and gold... on the blue label, the gold parts art not shining.
More, i have seen another one in a museum with a perfectly new blue label (i made a picture of it but i lost it, i'll do another one next time i go to the museum) and on this one the shining gold has been replaced with shining silver.

So i think they use it for a specific period or for a special type of stone.
