    Default Score!

I won an ebay auction of some potentially nice stones. One is definitely a coti and a possible natural combo thuringian. Really excited to get these lapped and a couple razors on them this weekend. Both stones are going to need some serious lapping. The "thuri" was convexed and I would keep it that way, but the radius is inconsistent along it's length, approx 8"! The dark side of the thuri has significant cchunks missing, too deep to lap out without losing most of the dark layer, for now it will be unlapped. The coti has some serious dips, but I can lap it for days on end, it is THICK.

Green face, short lap time on 80 grit, lots of gouges.

There is also a barber hone, Zanol is the printed name, but I'm not a big fan of them. So it'll join the others that have come in stone lots. Though this does indicate someone used all 3 stones for a progression, I will try out what I assume was the coti then thuri.

Finding two cool stones in one lot, 8" Thuri and a super thick Coti at that. Score for sure! Enjoy!

Nice score, John-I'd be interested to know how that convexed thuri behaves after you even out the radius a bit and smooth it out. I would love to run a smiling Sheffield through its paces on that to see what it yields. Please report back.

Oh, and by the way, I've gotten some awesome edges off that Greek Vermio you sold me!
There are many roads to sharp.
