New Escher color ID

Found this awesome Escher (and white Arky) at the 127 garage sales beginning of the month. Got it lapped and tried the Thuri for a touch up. Seemed to leave a shinier finish than my green one. What color would it be considered?

I'd call it green. Lt Green. Harder than a Green/Yellow but softer than a Dk Green. But what do I know? :shrug:

I've got a color chart in PDF, but can't seem to post it here. I'll see if I can find the site, and put that up. Then you'll have your own.

But from what I see....Yellow/green. Enjoy..!!

My blue/green leave's a very light, fuzzy finish. When viewed with a 40x loupe.

Green...like I am that you found that at a #@$€ garage sale!

If the slurry has a mixture of yellow then YG. From your picture it seems like LG to me.

So does a stone like this need to be burnished? When i lapped it i finished with a piece of 1k wet dry. The razor i just touched up with it seems rather rough (i didn't use slurry) or am i doing something wrong. Thanks for your help.

Drop back to a coarser grit, 8k or finer before using the Thuri. That's what I would do, assuming it was a good shaver before it dulled a bit.

I would vote for a yg!

I'll give that a try, I was under the impresion it should follow a 10 or higher. (So you think lapping on a 1K wet dry is enough?)

I think 1k is enough, that's what I have always used.

I follow the rule of "use the least aggressive method first", then gradually coarser if necessary. So start with the 10k followed by the Thuri, and evaluate the results. You will learn the razor steel and the hone in that process.

Just my 2¢ :)

When honing with slates, if I lap it, I follow that with a generous and even rubbing with the rubbing hone of the same making. I have done this my my eschers and it seems to be all they need. If you don’t have a rubbing stone with it then I do what Randy Said’s. Also when raising a slurry with a rubbing stone I seem to get better action with very low amounts of water. The fun of these types of hones is playing with the slurry. It adds a new dimension. I like to use my slate finishers after and 8K or 10K synthetic. 8K if I’m plannning on playing in the mud and 10K if I’m just finishing on musty to straight water.
