coticule question

I purchased this coticule back in 2010 0r 2011 along with a LPB from Ardennes I cant remember what the 2x8 is as in select or other. I tried a few times to hone with them and got frustrated , then went back to my Naniwa and Norton. I'm gonna give it another try with the natrual stone. I let a friend try the 2x8 out and would like someone on the forums to check out the pics to see if its damaged at all because it looks like the surfaces may have a few nicks or scrapes and how to prepare the surface for honing if lapping is not enough.

Just use w/d sandpaper on a flat surface to clean the surface up and chamfer the edges.
Will be good to go then. 600 would be fine if you plan on using slurry maybe 1k w/d if using water only.

For many many years we recommended the best of the best with Diamond Plates the least expensive at about $65

In recent years after a bit of testing, you just don't NEED that kind of accuracy for Lapping and Maintenance on our hones
These work just fine, trust me on this I use mine WAY WAY more than most people, I have had my cheapo Plate for about 7 years now and it works just fine still

Yes I have the stupid expensive one too, yes they are better, but you just don't NEED them

Reminds me of a La Nouvelle Veine, when I was still using Cotis, that was one of my better finishers in all honesty.
