nice find thank you
Just so nobody goes overboard on this I thought I would mention that I have a copy. It is not a book. Rather it is a pamphlet with paper covers 8 5/8" X 5 3/4"and is 47 pages long. If you have the Dalmore Blue and the Tam O'Shanter or if you have HAD and want to feed your inner demon it is not a bad read.
It is mostly a history of the area where these stones were mined and who the proprietors of those mines were. There are a few chestnuts relating to the characteristics of the rocks that can be dug up in the text but very few. Seven nice period B&W photos including one of a vintage Tam mounted in a wooden box. The rest are of machinery for milling the stones or harvesting them.
I am not sorry I got my copy and I wouldn't sell it but I figured if anyone is yearning for this copy on ebay here is a better idea of what they will get for their $$. I paid too much for mine on Amazon UK so that is why I am giving the heads up.
It's also out of print, so I think a faximilli (spelling?) copy should do anyone wanting to see the book. If they feel guilty send a £1 to the Ayr historical society or whoever published it. A £1 is probably more than they made on each book!
What do you think? :D
