Haven't heard of that . Do you have a link to some info ?
In that case forget I ever mentioned them. I'll come back and post a review once Ive bought up the worlds remaining stock ;)
see what you have done to the addicts or haddicts they are all shaky and sweaty, their keyboards and google are getting a workout as you read this in the relentless search for the ultimate shave
That's right, DON'T play with us like that! We're a group that is easily influenced. The RADdicts are a guarded, jaded and skeptical lot ;). Us HADdicts are too easily influenced with the notion that there is an illusive polishing stone out there that could be the next Asagi.

I guessed they must be from your side of the pond, Ive come across them in a generic packaging with the importer/distributors name and a brief mention of "yellow lake" on the box "use with oil or water" and I did see them mentioned in an old document where they were compared favourably as a cheaper alternative to a stone we would think of as a razor finisher, but they werent being discussed in the context of that document as a razor finisher.
Im sorry about the last cryptic bit above but I cant remember where I read it or what the other stone was, the article was along the lines of " tools to build your homestead" .
If you guys have never heard of them they cant be any good for razors, they do look like another slate type hone though.
I don't have a Yellow Lake in my collection. I'd love to have a chance to buy one or, failing that, a really good photo of one.
Hmm...i just recently aquired an 8x2x1 'Genuine Yellow Lake Oilstone." It is quite dark and shows alot of intial promise as a finisher...it reminds me a great deal of my vintage dark blue Thuringian.
I will test it against my other finishers, this weekend...wish me luck. He, he...

Mac you are my hero. Now if you can just find a Devonshire Oil stone.
You guys are nuts about your rocks...
Pics please.

My Yellow Lake stone turned out to be slightly finer than a DT, so maybe comparable to 8-9K grit.
Sunday another Yellow Lake stone went for 15 GBP at Ebay.
