Posts like this are going to bankrupt me... I want one... Or three, I'm a gonner.
Gorgeous hone! Sounds like it puts a killer edge on it too! Can't wait to hear how more razors come out using it.
It is indeed a beautiful stone and sounds like it will knock the others out of the saddle as your go to finisher. Yeah, I want one but I am holding out for one the that you lay pointing east and just wave the blade over it to get it scary sharp. :)
I know how you feel. It was Zib's recent thread about his newly acquired Nakayama Maruichi that re-sparked my interest in getting one. Do it.....all the cool kids have one....:w
I only have 3 razors now (I have way more stones than razors!) but I will be using on another razor tomorrow and test shave with it, then the other one on Wednesday. Seems like I need more razors so I have an excuse to use it!
Just wanted to let you know that I've tried this stone on another razor with fantastic results! The edge produced from the stone was extremely sharp but still very gentle on my skin, so the best of both worlds. :)
I used it on a 5/8" round-point ERN that's been a fantastic shaver for me. Well, needless to say it shaves extremely well now. :tu
This stone gets a big thumbs up from me as it's obviously a great finisher that outranks any of my other stones.
Mine seems to get better the more I use it. Speed increases and the hone marks under the microscope seem finer.
Hi,
I was just wondering what this stone cost.
Just to give you an idea of cost, mine is 7 1/4 inches by 2 3/8 inches by 11/16 inches. The cost was between $600 and $700. Some stones cost less and most cost more. Your best bet for info would be to contact OLD SCHOOL....
I like mine. Good luck finding one that suits your needs.....

Lovely hone, japanese hones IMHO have a certain mystery to them. Makes them really interesting/fun to use. One thing I noticed about mine is that when I sharpen my blades on it they don't seem to look as sharp but one pass on the ol beard and you can tell the difference.
