Keep the barber hone or sell?

First let me be clear, H.A.D. is just not a concern. I view hones as a means to an end. Period.

That being said, I have a nice little 2-sided "Amaloid" barber hone that I picked up a few months ago, but since then, I've acquired a full set of shapton glass hones up to 16k and made myself a CrO pasted balsa bench hone.

I'm currently in the process of selling off a few things I don't really need. (trying to recoup some of the expense of a set of shaptons)

Do you guys think there is any real reason to keep the barber hone?

:gaah: Thanks, I didn't even think of that. I don't travel much, but when I do, the last thing I'd want is to have to go out and buy a package of disposables because I rolled an edge a little and didn't have anything to touch it up with.

I'm still not 100% sure, but that's a pretty good reason to hang on to it.

I thought that way about my Swaty and my Olean's hone... until I sold them.

Now I have pangs of regret EVERY TIME I touch up my razor quick-like with a barber hone. EVERY TIME.

Seriously these things come in handy when you least expect it plus you won't make enough selling it to really matter.
Besides some razors really like a barber hone.

They do come in handy every once in a while.

I'm feeling the same way about my coti/bbw combi hone. I haven't used it in a while, but I'm afraid if I sell it I'll be kicking myself before too long.

I'm hanging on to my Itsapeech barber hone, though...no doubt.

Keep it, man. You know you'll regret it if you don't. For travel, for quick bathroom touchups, for sentimental reasons...FOR POSTERITY!

I held my Honemaster barber hone for over two years before I learned to make use of it. You never know what the future may hold. Keep 'em.

Thanks for all the feedback. It's nice when opinions are nearly unanimous, and in agreement with where I was already leaning.

I think I'll be hanging onto it.

I'd keep it! if you ever become frustrated with a razor that won't hone right, you can throw that one against the wall, instead of a good hone:fim:

I firmly deny that I admit to any form of H.A.D.

IF I had any degree of H.A.D. it would be in distant 3rd place behind R.A.D. and N.A.S. (Nikon Acquisition Syndrome)

Of course, I'm not admitting to anything........
