I'd say coticule if that does'nt work bbw with slurry then coti water works every time.
I voted barber hone.
It's a 2-sided amaloid barber hone that I picked up on ebay for about $30.
3-5 laps on the fine side will bring a slightly out of shape edge back to shaving like a champ.
2-3 laps on the coarse side followed by 3-5 on the fine will bring back an edge that has gone quite a bit out of whack.
I only have two barber hones in my arsenal so far. One is marked Standard Cutlery and the other is marked Dixie and both came from eBay for a total of about 40 bucks. Haven't need to use them on my new Dovo yet, but they've helped me get my vintage Bismarck closer to shave ready.
Chris will probably be around, but he did an article where he used only CrO for like, a long time. ChrisL... Please post it! I can't find it for the life of me....
Don't get me wrong, I'm a believer in the abilities of chrome ox; I purchased mine through Chris, which I'm sure he remembers. But I have hit that wall where it seems that the balsa touch-ups start becoming more and more common and it's time for the hone(s).
I voted Coticule but on the next poll I will probably be votng for the Naniwa 12k SuperStone. It's a tough question, I have a 3 LINE SWATY - Chosera 10k - Ch 12k - Shap 16k - Escher - Nakayama Maruichi - 2 Coticules and a Norton 8k.
We can only use one hone at a time.....!!!
just bought my nakayama
At this moment it is a coticule. Soon I hope to make it a Japanese natural.
