Anyone seen one of these before? Used one? I doubt it's very good, but it's a neat collectors Item, I've never seen anything quite like it to be honest.

Well it says it was "endorsed by barbers everywhere." :) One thing I agree with is that "old style shaving best of all." Looks like it got some use and some abuse.
The one I have is fairly coarse.
Edit: mine is finer than 1200 and coarser than most of my other barber hones. Meaning that it doesn't see much use.

Looks like she'd need a fair bit of lapping, and lapping can be a real PITA when it comes to barber hones. As for the holes... there was a lot of bs and snakeoil to sell stuff before there were laws about false advertising. Honestly, if the holes were to prevent overhoning in any way, I would think they would have to catch the edge (at least that's the only way I can imagine it working) and that would damage the edge. As a result, I don't think the holes would do anything. They may provide a bit less hone contact for the middle of the razor, which I guess could prevent overhoning and frowning there, but a proper stroke will also avoid these issues. I'm not even sure that one can overhone on a barber hone, unless it's a coarse one; the ones that are finishers are, imo, too fine to overhone on. And if it is a coarse hone, I'd think you would want a bigger one to save time...
I've got one. It may well prevent overhoning, but I can't say for sure because it also prevents getting a decent (or even adequate) edge.
Oh, and it's quite coarse which doesn't help at all.
Mine makes the same claim, but it lacks the holes.
