Touch up question
Hi Gents
I just bought a lovely Wade and Butcher wedge from a fellow member. The razor shaves like a dream at the moment, it was finished on an Esher then stropped, no CRo2 or other pastes were used. I didnt actually think you could get such a smooth shave without using CRo2 but I was very wrong going by the total lack of razor burn etc.
I currently own three spyderco hones, the medium, fine and ultra fine. I also have a coticule, belgium blue and a dragons tongue (similar to a chinese 12K).
With regards to touching up the blade after about three months, do I have the right kit and which stone would you use, or would there be any advantage in buying a barbers hone, and if so which one would you advice.
Regards
London

I only have experience of the coticule and use mine as a finisher (with water or lather, usually just water). The only honest answer I can give is try them and see, from my point of view you're ready to go but YMMV.

From what I've read the Spyderco UF is your finest stone (12-14k). The DT is more like 7-8k and not similar to a Guangxi hone, which is much finer (around 12k).

30-50 laps (depending on the speed of your stone) on the coticule should get the job done. Water only (no slurry!), weight of the blade or preferably less toward the end.
