What is a Fuchs hone?
So I just saw this hone sell for a pretty large amount of money on eBay (over $200), and that got me wondering -- what exactly is a Fuchs hone? Is it like (or the same thing as) an Escher or a Thurigan? Are these particularly useful as finishing stones, or does the value come more from their rarity/collectability? Thanks!

I don't know what it is, but the writing says that it is a "porous sharpening stone number 51" and is "Fox Brand" - hence the fox in the logo. I can just make out "razor" among the list of things it says it is good for.
Thuringians aren't porous...

Neil

Fuchs if I know?! Got any pics of the stone other than the label?

I just bought the third one of three, thank you Jesus.
If it's what I think it is, I've been chasing it many years.
The stone I'm seeking is German, even light grey, fine grit, but not a polisher, a cutter, say 2000-3000 but cuts like it's 1000, fast. Uses water, makes a gritty slurry, puts a FAST edge on a kitchen knife, and would be useful for razor repair & bevels but not honing to shave ready.
THAT is what I wanted, think I got, and didn't even yet pay for, but let me get to the bank..
and i'm too big to cry that I didn't get the 2nd one too.
Honest, I am! Anything but the last week of the month I'd have bid on all three, sincerely...
I will pay cash for another one if I have any..
