The 1k is the dark blue, right? Did you make a grid before you lapped? Is it wet or dry or partially wet?
Yes the 1k is the dark blue one and they are dry. I have done the grid in the past with sandpaper and my granite counter and have been having poor results attempting to hone. I just purchased th DMT8C and just relapped all my stones and got consistant results with the 5k 8k 12k seems that the 400k and 1k are blothchy. Now I have spent more time trying to lap the 1k and this is the result is it normal?
I had the full set. I never gave them much time to work before i sold them. I wonderd if the 1k was realy 1k as it just did'nt seem to cut like 1k norton. Maybe it was just me because i no many people love them. Or my 1k was faulty i'm just persuming. how do you find the 1k?
I have honed only one razor from 1k up with good results and have tryed to hone three others with poor results. This however could be my technique as I'm still a noob and find it very difficult to keep litte consistant pressure while keeping the razor flat on the hone..
I found that the Nani 1k isn't as aggressive as my Norton 1k; that can be good or bad, depending on what you are looking for. I don't remember the colors, though, and I've only used other peoples' at meets so I don't have one myself.
if you re talking about the 2 big darker colored spots, I have some spotting on my 5k, but it works just fine. I can't be sure if what you have on your stone changes the cutting power though.
Thanks guys and yes I'm referring to the darker spots.
