Silly me. I ordered my stones and didn't get anything to use for raising a slurry. Until I've obtained one, can anyone suggest a stand-in? IS there anything that can be used as a stand-in for a slurry-raising stone?
Thanks!

What type of stones did you order ? Personally if it isn't a natural stone I don't do slurry. If I don't have a slurry stone of the same material as my natural stone I use a credit card sized DMT325 that you can get for a few bucks. Works good and doesn't leave it's residue in the mix.

I've thought about getting one of those for a long time but haven't yet. How flexible is it? It's not so flexible that it compromises the flatness of a newly lapped or refreshed stone when used for making slurry?
I'm past the point of being fanatical about near optical flatness in my stones, but I like flat slurry stones on flat hones if that makes sense.

They are very stiff Chris. A piece of steel with the nickel plate holding the diamond just like the big plates ...... a lot thinner of course but very stiff. Here is an example.
I have a small Carborundum hone. It works beautifully with all my stones for raising a slurry.
That looks like the ticket right there, Jimmy. I never looked close enough at the pics in the past; now I see the thickness looks substantial enough. I've got to get me one of those. I use a cut piece of barber hone like a nagura to refresh my 1, 2 & 4K Shaptons but the diamond card I could see would be great for nats.
