What is the best (safe and pratical) way to mail a hone to a buyer through USPS?
Bubble wrap and styrofoam.
Flat rate? Priority? Registered? Certified? Insured? It's too complicated!
Priority, with delivery confirmation and if the stone is expensive, insurance.
I like to use a lot of bubble wrap.
I love flat rate shipping for hones. I use bubble wrap and peanuts.
If it's properly bubble wrapped and either foam or peanuts or airbags used the method doesn't matter.
It will survive anything except a Gorilla jumping on it.
The best way is to get a job at USPS and hand-deliver it yourself
I use USPS priority mail w/Delv conf. If the stone's value is over 100.00, insure it. If your shipping outside the US, Insurance stops at the border. Lot's of people are unaware of this...For Int'l shipping, check out "shipsurance"...They insure door to door and are very affordable. I've used it for stones in excess of 300.00 "Nakayama's" to Japan...UPS and Fedex cost 2x as much to ship to Japan vs USPS....
USPS really is the best value. I've never had a problem....I do work there, but don't "hand deliver it"....They won't let me...and we're not hiring...Go figure....
