Newark...Wow, I remember going to the Drive inn in Newark....
I know they used glue the Vintage Coti's to BBW's just for support, before they realized that you could actually hone on them...hence the label....

Woooowwwww :dropjaw:. That's the only word that comes to mind. What a gift:tu. Congratulations...Keep this very close to your chest
Given what appears to be figuring on the back side, especially to the left of the label, I'd tend to agree with Jimmy in saying it's a BBW. A closeup would make it much more clear.
The suspense is killing me, BBW or Slate? Glued or Natural. If you don't get Vertigo viewing these perhaps you'll be able to tell.

Looks like you have yourself a natural combo. The gift that keeps on giving. Beautiful stone.
Yeah it is a natural combo to my eye. :tu
Wow, looks like I have something special here. Now I need to learn how to use it. I've started my homework and have a very basic question- It looks like I need another stone to make a slurry-is there a particular type of stone? Where can I find one?
Frank told me put oil on the stone before honing (he said any oil would do and suggested olive oil). As I've read about this I have found absolutely
no reference to using oil. Anybody out there know anything about this.
I think the answer to my next question is that there is no real answer but here goes. Is there an estimated grit number that can
be assigned to these stones?
In addition to the WIKI on this site I found a nice resource with some nice information on this stone confirming what I've learned from the responses to this post. I am extremely grateful for the feedback and direction. The wealth of knowledge possessed by members of this board is quite impressive.

Thanks again!:bow
Interesting...both labels read "None genuine without our signature." One signature (JimmyHAD) looks like S.R. Droescher. The other (dslazar9) reads something different. I wonder if this is from rebranding?
