Need to replace my Norton 4/8

I have had it for 10 years or so, and slowly it has developed two lateral cracks across both sides of the stone. I have no idea why. It has never been dropped or anything like that. But I am assuming I need to replace it at this point.

I am considering getting another Norton 4/8 and a Naniwa Super Stone 12000. Does that seem like a reasonable set up?

That's a very good set up but get a naniwa 1k too.

I suggest the Naniwa 3K/8K combo. You don't have to soak it, just wet it and go.

Either the Norton or Naniwa combo will work well, and you will find the Naniwa SS 12k to be an excellent finisher. If possible, could you post a photo of the cracks? I'm not sure of what you are describing. Are they interfering with honing at all?

If you do replace your current hone, you could probably sell it in the classifieds. No doubt someone would like to cut it up to make slurry stones out of it. I know I would.
