Default finally - I think I have it down

After about 6-7 attempts on the ardennes coticule yellow - I think I have finally managed to put an edge on my razors that I am happy to shave with! Thanks to all the posters on the thread titled "how to use a coticule". I could not get a decent edge using the Dilucot method. In the end after a lot of experimenting I started with slury to bring up the edge, I then switched to water only. I could pass HHT right from the hone which is a complete first for me

I had the best shave ever this evening, pretty much BBS all over, no more redness, or scratching sensation - absolutely brilliant.

thanks! To be honest I was starting to think I would never get it figured out....and today something just clicked. I could suddenly actually feel how sharp the edge was and know when to start honing with just water....which I think was the eureka moment!

Yeah I found my Eureka moment was when I let myself concentrate only on the coti. I waited for SWMBO to go out for the day and then sat myself down with some relaxing music and several razors. No longer being distracted in anyway I found it a lot easier to learn to read, feel and listen to the coti.
