    Default So, what is it?....

    Hello guys,

I just won this on the bay. What do you think it is?

A solid piece of BBW only or a thin layer of BBW and the rest a Coticule?
Pay attention to the glare factor and ask yourself if this has a bevel around the edges.

Yes, it looks like a BBW/ coti combo, but the ruler is in centimeters, so its close to 4 inches long and about 2 wide so its a little on the small side.

Randy and I have already discussed this but I'll throw it out here as well. I think it is just a BBW, no coticule. Now, I realize that does not make sense given that the BBW side was just considered to be backing material and not of use for honing, but the first and third photos make my think this. The first photo shows that the edges are beveled. The right side of the third photo shows that bevel again and the side of the hone above it. The far right side still looks like it is BBW rather than coticule to me.

Of course, it's the photography that is making it confusing.

Edit: Also, of course, I hope and expect that I am wrong!

    Centimeters! Whew, my heart.

What is all the white material, if this is a BBW?

I see what you mean, the reflection may be what is making the portion on the other side of the beveled edges look like it is a much lighter color. All we can do is wait and see and hope that Randy lucked out on this one.

I think that's what I was seeing too. May just be the lighting making it look lighter. Was hard to tell, was looking on my phone initially

I adjusted the levels and the contrast, but did nothing that would affect the color... There are blue tones in it, but not the slightest hint of yellow or cream.

    Sorry Randy.
