nagura needed or no?

i watched the one stone hone video in which glenn uses a nagura to raise a slurry on the norton 4k/8k. i checked them out on amazon because i got a gift card, and the reviews were lousy. where does one get a good one, and is there anything else that can be used for raising a slurry on the norton, or do i really need to do that?

You don't need that one in fact you can use the DMT or even a low quality Arkansas that can be found at Walmart or any Army Surplus store..
The small credit card sized cheap knife sharpeners work too...

I just placed an order with Woodcraft the other day I should have ordered one of those for my Naniwas.

I have a small white Arkie too, that works just fine

A nagura is definitely not needed when using the Norton 4K/8K, but if you choose to use this method, they are widely available as indicated above. The Norton 4K/8K is a very reliable stone on it's own merits and can be used with the circle method or pyramid method with great consistency.
