lapping a finishing hone, cross contaminiation?

I have a finishing stone that needs some flattening.

I have 400 grit sandpaper, but I wonder whether the
grit will get stuck in the finishing stone.

I also have a diamond hone that is isn't flat(concave).
I think the 400 on glass is better, but I am concerned
about the grit getting stuck in the hone.

What do you think?

If you lap in the kitchen sink, or any sink with a relatively flat area, the sandpaper on a tile or piece of flat glass, running water to wash away swarf, you should be fine.

Thanks I will try this.

Bought a okudo nashiji from 330mate. Quite a hard
stone. Tried it a bit, but don't know how to use
it correctly yet.

Got a Iyo and Tomonagura with it.
