Well, it's definitely a natural. It reminds me of a coticule but the colors don't seem to contrast enough. Also, the spotty areas on the face of the hone are odd. Could you please show the other face of the hone?
There are pictures of four sides.
I asked a seller for more closer pictures of wet surface.

Dimensions are 150mm x 30mm x 16mm. I'll post more pics asap.
Long answer is I've seen a Thuringan with a blend of color on the side like that and some blending on the top but not as variegated as the one in those photos. Short answer is I don't know. :) Looks cool though.
I noticed from the pics that both sides were used.
I kept wanting to say Thuringian, but that spotted (Jimmy your word "variegated" is better) surface held me back.Quote:

I have a Thuringian that is naturally 2 sided, but the splash of color on this has me confused. It looks like it might be rust on the surface, but without getting my hands on it and actually seeing it, I am lost.
I have a Thuringian (Escher) that is two sided just like that - not with the mottled side though. However I have seen a mottled Thuringian that wasnt 2 sided. Put em together and that's your stone! I say its a Thuringian. Possibly an Escher without its label, but at least a Thuringian.
How does it polish?
It is not mine yet. Auctions ends on sunday. What side would be a Thuringian ? There's not much left on darker side.
If it is a Thuringian, then the whole thing (both sides) would be Thuringian as it appears to be a natural two sided stone.Quote:

Definitely a Thuringian. Possibly an Escher but you'll never know. It could well be in my view the ultimate finisher. Try it out after an 8k. Im sure you'll be impressed.

I know, but unless that was my only razor, I'd just use one of my daily shavers on it. Im a rock hound
Nice Thuringian! My latest Yellowgreen Escher also has a thin darker layer. They put the label over the dark side.
I've noticed that previous owner was using darker side for sharpening. Brighter side looks unused. :hmmm:
