Another hone ID
Got this one:

It leaves a nice edge; shaving right off the hone (with stropping, of course:)) is great. Slurry is white with a hint of a yellowish green. It has inclusions on both sides, but as far as I can tell, they donīt interfere with the honing.
On the sides, there are some longish dark spots, as you can see.
What do you think? Is it what I think it is
?

It depends.
Do you think it's a Thuringian?
Enjoy your rock!

Take a piece of sandpaper and lap the stone on it, dry. If it is an Thuringen/Escher/German Waterstone it will develop a fine powder very easily, kinda like chalk. Thats what the stone looks like to me.
Good luck,:)

Looks like it. Thuringian, that is....

Indeed. I got in in germany, which makes it even more
Well, you know:hmmm:
After lapping, the hone is a little brighter.

Sorry, didnīt see the other two answers, just the one from Utopian. Thank you all, Iīd hit the thanks-button, but for some reason, logging in is pretty hard for me (mac-problem?), meaning, sometimes Iīm logged in, sometimes not... canīt edit the previous post, too. Writing a comment aparently works.
Something less Off-Topic: I tried the Dilucot-Method (starting with dulling on glass) and it worked. Didnīt take any longer than with a coticule. Iīve heard from other people, that it works with other stones, such as dragons tongue, as well.
Thanks and Regards,
tok
EDIT: great, now everything works. I hate computers.

it looks like you have a nice Thuringian when you make the slurry does it smell like chalk ?
