Well done that buyer! Good spot..! :)
They're good stones, especially when you use a bit of slurry on them. With just water they work, but they can be pretty slow!
im keeping a very large database now of all these charnleys ive found in auctions and pictures.
fairplay people win them but i was on th phone to the seller, he was getting soooo many mad offers of 20 quid and 30 quid for buy it nows.... naughty stuff!
Do you currently own any charnley forest stones? I am just asking because all the threads you've started are about how much they go for on ebay, sniping on a cf, or how to lap one. I don't own any yet maybe that's what I haven't looked so far! :hmmm:
It might be a bargain but it depends on how much stone is in the box. It appears he is holding the stone up with the tip of the pen like it was just a sliver of CF and that kept me from bidding more, I was close though. I should have asked for more info or pics.
What I don't understand is that if you think it went for a bargain price how come you didn't win it?
For the winner's sake I hope I was wrong and it's a big chunk of Charnley Forest :)
There was another CF auction that ended 2 hours later which went uncontested :w
It was only 3 7/8" x 1" but still counts ;) Assuming I was right of course, it will get here next week.
Did you win the 9 3/8" x 2 3/8" CF? That one looked great, worth every penny for sure. Congrats!
yep thats the one i won
anyone want my two turkey oil stones and a barber hone!? :)
Pistol, unless your new Charnley is of similar grit as the Turkeys I would keep one to either use before or after the Charnley.
Ferroburak, he started a thread for each Turkey so should be easy to find :)
hello Piet
yes i do plan on keeping one of my stones, i will be selling the boxed one and keeping the unboxed one
I am still lapping the charnley flat, it wasnt too bad when it arrived yesterday but i want it to be perfectly flat and there is still a small indent in it which wont affect honing but i would like a fully flat surface before i use it.
like the turkey stones, it is taking a VERY VERY long time to lap and im using 100 grit wet and dry at the minute. a very slow process indeed!
Hmm. How do I know that? Perhaps because my ones are waiting for tommorrow flattening and lapping and I am not too much looking forward to it.
