Hi,
I just purchased a new coti. I was expecting it to only be a coticule but it looks to me like a natural combo? Am I correct. The other side is quite purple.

True double sided stones are quite rare. Most of the current product has slate bonded to it for stability. I would assume that's what you have.
Looks to me like a natural combo, but can't be sure from the photos. If you raise a slurry on the back, what does it look like?
It looks like a combo to me too from the blending of the two surfaces in the side photo. If it is blended that way all round it must be a combo. A glued coticule, whether to bbw, or to slate, is more uniform at the seam. The slurry on the bbw should be purplish. If it is slate it will be dark gray.
Looks like a combo. Also looks like the bbw side is chamfered which no one would have any good reason to do on slate. Ask the seller (Superior?).
Natural combo
A new glued one will have a fairly thick glue line, and it would be straight
yeah that's a combo stone.
Slurry comes up purple, looks like I scored a combo. I have asked the seller but no response yet. They were supposed to send a coti and a slurry stone. Instead I just got a combo.
Hi,
Natural combination coticules are quite common. It appears that you have one of the recently mined La Petite Blanche coticules with a BBW side.
Beautiful hone.
