It seems you would benefit most from an 8K Norton or Naniwa and a 12k Naniwa. I, also recommend the superstones in Naniwa. Just my opinion!

I like the Naniwa bases. They serve a good purpose and at my age, it is almost certain I won't be wearing out any hones, base or no base.
This may not be signifigant but for the past several weeks I have been doing most of my honing in the basement of the local cheese factory.
well the cheapest one would be a chinese 12k but im not sure what everyone else thinks about these but i like them, they are SLOW cutters.

Get yourself a credit card size DMT 325 Diamond plate to make a slurry on your Ch 12k. That might speed things up for you.
