Default Photo of Charnley Forest Honing stone.

Hello, is there anyone on the site that would be willing to share several photos of a confirmed Charnley Forest honing stone. It would help me immensely to be able to have several good looks and several clear color photos of such a stone. It would also help to have a little knowledge regarding the history behind the stone such as where it was mined, what were the years of operation of the mine, etc. Thanks in advance for anyone that may be of assistance.

I suggest you check in the wiki, I think there are quite a few of them there.
Also, do a search for them here on the forums, there must be dozens of them in various treads

If you are real lucky, adrspach, a member here, will chime in.
He knows tons about them, and has more Charnleys than any man could ever want.

Good luck hunting for your rock.

I use one, and find it to be a great finisher...

Ta Da! Here's mine. I don't need a reason to show off my hones. With and without slurry. All natural stones are different, BEwARE. Have fun.

Here are two of mine. The first is how most CFs look like, shades of green with reddish spots/veins. The second one is all green and one of the finest stones I have.

I believe pics of mine are in the wiki, but just in case I'll attach a copy. I use oil on mine. I've found that sewing machine oil and Kroil work very well...

Some of the CFs which I owned or still have.
As you will notice there are three basic and different types of CF and there are others available as there were many different quarries for them.

I really want to invest in a Charnley Forest in the future. My RAD seems to calm down. There isn't much out there that intrigues me at this point...hones on the other hand...

adrspach, I thought that middle one was some form of Welsh Snakestone. What made you think it's a CF? Rhys has one and I think I may have one as well. I don't have any info on mine unfortunately, I have no clue what it is.

zib, I recognize your CF. There was a thread about the other half
