    Default Lapping a 1k

Can you lap a 1k with a 220 lapping plate? I'm trying to figure out if there is a "universal" lapping plate or if you need different ones for different variations of stones.

Without knowing what stone and what lapping plate, I would venture to say yes to that question.

    I use a DMT 325 to lap everthing from a 1K to 12 in synthetics(SS and Chosera)
With naturals, I have other options.

I'm looking at getting a Naniwa 1k super stone and Naniwa 220 lapping stone, also looking the rest of the Naniwa super stone line. Is there a better lapping option for this line?

I've used the 220 lapping plate on all my Naniwa SS. All the way up to the 12K. It worked great! No worries, that 220 will do just fine IMO.
Another very good option would be the DMT 325 diamond hone. I use an 8" version of it.

you can use DMT on anything that is finer than the grit it has. Most popular one is DMT 325 grit, if you want to further refine the surface you can use finer grits sand paper on flat surface.

Don't be like me and order the 11" DMT 325 just to find out that it won't fit in your handy little stone holder... It's gonna last forever and with figure 8's it's not hard to use. I'm just lazy and like the stone holders so that I don't bust my knuckles when the kiddos distract me.
