My Western stone collection

I have very big HAD right now and bought many stones from ebay and some members here :)

I like to try new natural stones all the time and not only Japanese, so i decided to collect so much as possible and then compare them all with each other and do some videos :)

These stones that i got so fare:

I've heard of the Yellow Lake, but know nothing about it.

There are some on UK ebay and they are not to expensive it is bit harder then my Coticules slower but finer too wonderful stone but need to explore it more :)

Nice ones Maksim. Didn't know you had HAD for stones other than JNats, too. Just don't start selling these types of stone as well or else I'm really gonna be in trouble. I look forward to the videos and to hearing how your Thuringian compares to your best JNats.

But all of these stones compares to Jnats for sure i am exited to try more of each stones because like Jnats they are all different and no one is same !

Utopian, Alex posted some interesting information about the Yellow Lake here. I sold the one from that thread because it was just like my DT. I found another unboxed one in a lot I bought, again just like my DT but slightly darker.

maxim207, if your YL is finer than a Coticule I wonder what type of the ones Alex described it is. Does it sparkle a lot?

Yes mine sparkles but not a lot just a bit, not like that special stone :)
It have some blackish specs too looks like on those pictures too

Ok so probably a 8-10k slate. Oldengaerde has a Yellow Lake that sparkles a lot, he made a video of it. I don't know if he ever tested how fine it was.

It have definitely some sparkles but not a lot. They are all different and maybe my coticule that is not so fine. I will get some more soon anyway and more Yellow Lakes too with labels and will give a better test :)

So fare very fast cutting, slurry get black very easy, grit rate is the finest of all my Western Nats ! It is very hard stone glass like. But not harder then Arkansas or Turkish but very close !
That little stone wight 450 g.
size: 175mm 40mm 19mm

It is hard to find YL with labels. I have one (from Salmensand even that bone does not say that bit is YL. I do have other YL even from Salmens an have to say that grit can quite vary.

Congrats, I get the feeling I would have had to bid a lot more to win that Silkstone. Oh well maybe another time :)

A_S posted useful information in a Silkstone thread. There was also a stone advertised as CF at Ebay that looked similar to the Silkstone posted in that thread.
