help me to ID this stone
please help me to ID this stone I lappepAttachment 73939d it very ligthly and it made this kind of white slurry. It measures 7 in. long, 1 1/2 wide, and 3/4 thick. it feels very smooth. before I lapped Attachment 73938it looked like it was made out of two stones, like the carborundums but this one feels very very smooth on both sides, it feels like a swaty hone.Attachment 73936the thing on the rigth is sand paper Iused to lapped it as you can see the slurry is white

It looks like thuringian, but could be something else.
What are the dimensions?

I suggest to try to post some pics with wet surface, maybe can help to recognize what kind of stone is.

Is the stone soft or hard? Do you mean two layers in the stone like a natural combination or two stones glued together? Does the stone have saw marks?
I think close-ups will be most helpful.

I have been hearing that there are some unscrupulous people out there cutting PHIGS down to typical thuringian sizes. Like Piet said, is it hard or soft? Photo's close up, wet, and with a slurry mean a lot. Most PHIGS are hard & all of the thuringians I have run across are rather soft for a rock.
