Help with another ID.

I have seen you guys ID hones and thought you might be able to ID this one. I dont know the history of it. It is very dished out on the tan side not as bad on the brown side. I*t looks like a very well used Belgian yellow/blue natural combo. From the looks of it the original owner never turned the stone around and dished it severely especially on his dominant hand's side of the stone.

I know if I lap it the tan side will be pretty much useless, but where would the brown side fit into a rotation?

I think you would still have years of service left if you lapped the yellow side.

Edit: Just be careful to take down the side that has more, you will end up with the stone thicker on one side than the other but still life in it.

Very true! It may not be esthetically pleasing but it will still be entirely functional.

If it's "glued" together, more than likely the brown side is a type of slate & not of much use honing. If it's a natural combo coti, then the brown side is in the neighborhood of 4K...if you were to generalize/ballpark the grit a natural stone.

It is not glued. And right now I think I will wait till my skill with honing improves. I still have a tendency to lift the spine. Thanks for the help.
