I have always looked at my stones with original ink stamps as slightly more desirable and more marketable. In the old days very few mines stamped their stones with the actual name of the mine but most of those stamps you see on old stones were registered with the Kyoto Mining Union even if the mines actual name was not included in the design. Many if not all of the stamps were inked on the stones by the stone wholesaler or consolidator in through the 1960s. Alx
