i have my old geneva, and since i have been using it for a while now, and i always noticed that the end of the blade is just duller than the rest of the razor, when i honed it always stayed the same. Now that i have my 220 grit stone i still can't get that one spot any sharper, any tips please.
Have you tried using magic marker to determine if all parts are contacting the hone with the given stroke?
A photo would help. Could it be because of a smile or something like that?

okay i will post pics tomorrow, well i will ty to, but its an old razor it was pasted down from my grandpa, he has not able to use it anymore cuz he hands are shaky, so it not brand new but its not old either.

one other question the lettering on my razor has fadded, and i wish to restore the razor(remove pitting, and etc) could i buy a tool and attempt to bring it out agian so they will be seen after the restore

Okay this should work now, sorry i am not good at posting pics
if you are having problems with the toe area, it is smiling and will require a bit of modified stroke to get it all honed. Use the magic marker trick to see what stroke will work best.
so i put the magic marker on the edges of the spine right ????
Marker on and just above the edge, to see what part of the edge is or isn't contacting the hone. Excess marker is easy to get off, so don't be shy with it.
you need to know how the bevels contact the stone, so you use the magic marker on the bevels.Quote:
