Can anyone identify this hone?
It is described as a 'Belgian Purple', however I can't find any reference to this here.
Could it be a Belgian Blue?
Any help is appreciated.

I'm not help t you but that was an eBay stone wasnt it! I'm sure i saw that on there! lol
I looking at bidding on one that looked much the same
Edit: yep it is, ill be quiet lol i wont bid though, i have enough stones as it is.. lol
I don't think it is a Belgium Blue Westone, commonly refered to as a BBW. Personally it doesn't look like any BBW I've ever seen. They do make a purple colored slurry, but are generally a dark blue color, not purple. They can be had from a number of online vendors on the cheap. Personally I'd avoid that one.
Second picture from the top has that same garnetty look as the BBW. Aside from that, I have no idea.
James.
Yeah I agree, if you were to darken that picture a bit it would look exactly like my BBWs. That one looks like a bloody BBW, and I don't mean that in the UK sense.
EDIT: This thing fascinated me, so I did a search for "rare purple coticule." That might give you some more information, but left me wanting even more pictures.
There is a discussion here about a red\purple one http://www.coticule.be/the-cafeteria/topic/1993.html
And this is the stone they are talking about
Attachment 78316
Its hard to see it as the main photo has been deleted and i could only retrieve the thumbnail
That has also been listed on ebay before here: NATURAL RARE BELGIAN PURPLE SHARPENING RAZOR HONE-STONE | eBay
And there was a discussion about that stone here: http://www.coticule.be/the-cafeteria/topic/2066.html
I would say it 'might' be legit but who knows what it would hone like. Could it be a Veinette coticule?
Next time we catch up I'll bring my coti/bbw for a comparison. That one is much more red/purple that the BBW side of my stone, but I have seen some BBWs with a touch of purple in them.
I think, for a natural its about the right price. I would love to buy it and see but i'm as broke as anyone can be at the moment. I purchased too much over the past month or two lol If i was to get it i would have to sell one first lol
I hope someone gets its and gives it a review!
I think for that money , if you look around Ebay you may find a true vintage ccoticule. And even if is a different stone, is to small. Fot that money you can find a truly finisher, like a vintage small thuringian.Just my oppinion.
