Hello again, I bought this stone on Ebay, and I have no ideea what can be. Is a natural stone, green with mothed stains,very very hard, 1 hrs to lap on a lapping stone, raise white greenish slurry, but very hard even with DMT plate, is 7 7/8 long and 1 7/8 wide and 13/16 thick.I try it with water and with slurry but I can't have a ideea where is grit wise.I am not sure if was used with oil or not.

show a pic of the stone from the side looks to be a hard ark but i would need to look at the side of the stone to make sure
It looks much like a hone I have, but haven't been able to identify. Would describe the stone a little more? Hardness, striations/layers, grit size guess, etc.
Hello Larry, I think my stone is a Hindostan, have some side striations , and is very hard stone. I used with water but I think you can also use it with oil. I don't think is a finisher, Sham said is on 6-8k grit range.Anyway nice to hear from you again. Regards, Liviu
I am somewhat familiar with the Hindostan from reading. My stone looks almost identical to yours, but is quite different. It is muddy and softer feeling than most stones. The grit size is about 1K or a little above.)
Is it quite porous? If it is I have same one. Hard to lap and grit about 1k.
In my opinion then it is either hard sandstone with even possibility of man made. I am still not shure with mine.
its hard to tell if the stone has bands on the side of the stone or not if it does and its super hard then its a hindostan . and their around 12k .
Thank you,it have some lateral striation, and is super hard, like a barber stone, and is not porous, is smooth, but not like a thuringian smooth.I used with water, and is sharpen very fast, I am not experienced, but I don't think is a 12k, maybe 5-6k.
