Anyone tried this stone for straights? I have read a lot about it on knife forums, but not on shaving forums. From the pics I have seen, it leaves a nice bright mirror polish, and I like that a lot on razors. I was thinking about an SS 10k too, but I would like to get a thicker stone without base, and they are about the same price, just the 10k from metal master is 2,5x thicker, and supposedly wears slower. I would use it with knifes and razors too, but I am more concerned about razors :)
I wonder if this will be similar to the Chosera 10K as I believe they both are magnesium based stones. I have tried both the Chosera 10K and the Naniwa SS 10K and both put a nice polish on the edge. Both also shave a little harsh vs. the higher grit or natural finishers. Let us know if you do try one of these.

I think takeshi kuroda (metal master) says on his site that his 10k stone is resin based, (like shaptons). I don't know about the others, though, have only used besters and none of the imanishi branded stones further up the grit scale. Maybe it's a little more porous and chalky feeling or less dense than shaptons (that would be a nice thing, make it closer to the chosera feel).
Whatever it is, it's probably primarily designed for knife people and woodworkers, so it'll do like lynn says, and be a bit harsh. If it was super fine like a lot of razor finishers, then it would be too slow for knives and woodworking tools.
At $75, it's awfully tempting to try the 10k stone - it's a nice big stone.
