Another Green stone..
I have a friend that is a gem cutter and lapidary. He periodically brings me stones from his travels. I am testing this very hard green finger stone from New Zealand.
He called it nephrite jade and referred to it as Pounamu, Kawa Kawa. I have one edge lapped flat. Anyone have experience with this stone?
Thank you

yea, basically calcium Magnesium Silicate. It's used alot as a jadeite replacement cause it looks a lot like it. You can find it in Wyoming. I don't know about it as a hone though. It's pretty hard but not like true jade (Jadeite)

I have access to a big slab if initial tests are promising. I have lapped an edge very thin. I will test on knives first. Check for scratch pattern if any. Like bigspendur say’s this is very hard material. I doubt it is suitable for razors or knives.
