I recently got a Shoubudani Asagi . Before I use it I want to lap it but all I have is a DMT 325 some wet dry sand paper and a set of naniwas 1 thru 12K. What should I do and how should I do it? Please and thank you.

I do my Japanese natural hones with the tools you have. I draw the pencil grid and with the Jnat on the adjustable holder and under lightly running water I just begin working the dmt without a lot of pressure
back and forth being sure to keep the dmt absolutely flat. Work until the grid is gone depending how the edges
of your natural stone I gently work the dmt from flat to lifting the inside edge and rolling over the edge.
Sometimes I finish with 800 to 1,000 wet/dry paper flat on a counter and rub the stone on the paper. I try to wear the dmt all over as I lap. You will do fine.
you need to smooth it finer than 325 for best results.
After 325, go to 600 and 1500 sand paper, then when using the nagura the surface will smooth even further.
I will. Ill have some time to myself tomorrow and ill be sure to follow up here . Thanks for everything guys!
thanks again gents. All went well . It took a bit but I used my dmt325 then 600, 1000, 1500, 2000 grit wet dry sand paper and the grid technique . I'll finish it with the slurry stone later and take a razor to it then. I'll be sure to post the results .
