JNS? What is this stone you speak of?
JNS 1000 grit
I'm assuming this is the right one, although it looks like it's out of stock at the moment.
So is it natural or synthetic? JNS stands for Japanese Natural Stone right? Looks natural with the mottled coloring.
This is one of the synthetic stones that he carries. Perhaps the mottling was to make it look more aesthetically pleasing.
It sounds like it's supposed to feel like a natural stone. What do you think Bayamonte?
I believe it's just a rebranded Nubatama Ume 1K. It should be a terrific stone. Nubatamas are harder and less "gummy" feeling than Naniwas.
It does feel like a natural stone and it has a very similar feedback. I dulled a wedge, 1/4 hollow and full hollow to take for a test drive and I really like it. My Norton 4K actually left more pronounced scratches than the JNS before it.
I don't know who makes this stone but I will say that the Nubatama Ume 1K I tried a few weeks ago looked almost identical but it seemed a bit softer and easier to get slurry from. The JNS releases nothing, all I see is metal coming off the razor, excellent stone.
I'm going to have to grab one of these and try it out.
I have to avoid threads like this, until now I was totally satisfied with my 1k Chosera :banghead:
